Group Programs & Workshops

Sometimes the most powerful part of a therapeutic process is the simple recognition that you are not alone in what you are carrying. Group programs and workshops create a space where that recognition becomes possible, and where the shared experience of others can offer something that individual therapy, by its nature, cannot.

At Healthy Minds Psychotherapy, we offer therapeutic groups and psychoeducational workshops throughout the year, designed to support skill development, reflection, and connection with others facing similar experiences.

Who Group Programs Are For

Our programs are open to adults looking for a structured, professionally led space to learn, reflect, and connect. Many participants are also engaged in individual therapy, and group work can run alongside that process very effectively. Others are drawn to group programs as a more accessible or flexible starting point.

You do not need to be an existing client of Healthy Minds to join a group or workshop, unless specifically noted in the program description.

What Our Programs Offer

All programs at Healthy Minds are clinically informed and led by a Registered Psychotherapist or supervised therapist. They combine three core elements:

  • Psychoeducation: evidence-based information about the topic, drawn from current research and clinical practice

  • Guided discussion: facilitated conversations that move beyond surface-level sharing into something more meaningful

  • Practical skills and tools: takeaways you can use in everyday life, not only within the group

Group sizes are kept small, typically 6 to 8 participants, to allow for real connection and meaningful dialogue. This is not a lecture. It is a facilitated, structured, and contained experience.

Topics We Offer

Group programs and workshops at Healthy Minds may focus on topics including:

  • Grief and loss: for those carrying loss of any kind, including the losses that are often not fully acknowledged by others

  • Anxiety management: practical tools drawn from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness for working with anxious patterns

  • Mindfulness and stress reduction: evidence-based practices for building resilience and present-moment awareness

  • Emotional regulation: developing the capacity to respond rather than react, using DBT-informed skills

  • Communication and relationship skills: for individuals who want to strengthen how they connect with others

  • Burnout and caregiver support: for healthcare professionals, parents, and others in sustained caregiving roles

Topics, formats, and facilitation vary between programs. Each program is described fully on its own event page when registration opens.

OUR APPROACH

Format and Accessibility

Programs are offered both in-person at our Toronto office at 151 Harbord Street and virtually via secure video platform, with virtual sessions available to participants anywhere in Ontario. Format and platform details are clearly noted when you register.

Sessions are typically held once per week over a defined period. Most programs run between four and eight sessions. All materials are provided as part of your registration.

Stay in the Loop

New programs are announced through our newsletter and social media. If you would like to be notified when a new group or workshop opens for registration, particularly for a specific topic, reach out and let us know. We keep a waitlist for topics in high demand and use it to shape future programming.

For existing clients: if you think a group program might be a useful addition to your individual work, bring it up with your therapist. They can help you determine whether the timing and topic would be a good fit.
