Join us on November 8th from 10–11 AM EST for a free virtual educational session hosted by Healthy Minds Psychotherapy, created for parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children. Parenting a neurodivergent child can bring moments of joy as well as uncertainty, and it can be difficult to know where to start when navigating new information, systems, and emotions. This one-hour session will provide helpful guidance to increase understanding, explore available supports, and consider caring responses to the emotional experiences that can arise in this journey.
The session will be facilitated by Maria Bater Alessandro, MSc, EdD (Candidate) — Counselling Psychology, OISE at the University of Toronto who specializes in supporting neurodivergent individuals and families.
We will explore:
What a diagnosis means within the neurodiversity framework
How to identify and access available services and community supports
Common caregiver emotions such as stress or guilt, and supportive ways of responding
Simple, optional strategies parents can consider to promote personal well-being
