Meet Ekta
"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world." -Gautama Buddha"
Hi, I'm Ekta, a student therapist completing my practicum placement at Healthy Minds Psychotherapy. I am currently pursuing a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, under the clinical supervision of Katharine De Santos. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology from York University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Over the past two years, I have built clinical experience across a range of settings, including crisis support, community mental health, and private practice coordination. I have provided telephone-based wellness support to adults and older adults in distress, co-facilitated psychoeducational group programs for trauma recovery, and worked on telephone crisis lines supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds.
I believe that each person carries their own inner strength and capacity for growth. My role is to help you make sense of your experiences, recognize your strengths, and provide tools to cope with life’s challenges more effectively. Together, we will explore what feels difficult and work toward a path aligned with your values and goals.
As a South Asian immigrant, I understand the complexities of navigating different cultural expectations and identities. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive space where you feel not only heard but truly understood.
